A moderate earthquake caused panic in Mexico City, reminding people of a more devastating earthquake 21 years ago.

A 5.9-magnitude earthquake shook the epicenter of Michoacan, Mexico, on the morning of Friday, August 11. The western state is located about 126 miles from Mexico City.

The Mexican capital experienced an 8.1-magnitude earthquake in 1985 that killed at least 12,000 people. Fortunately, this time around, there were no reported casualties and building damage.
