Not just known for dreadlocks and reggae, Jamaica is emerging as a top favorite for Caribbean travelers.
Jamaica proved to be the ultimate victor in Caribbean Travel and Life Magazine's annual Best of the Caribbean survey, topping three of the major categories. Close to 10,000 readers voted the Caribbean country as being the "Best All-Around Destination", having the "Friendliest People", and the "Best Local Food". Jamaica, which is only about the size of Connecticut, emerged as either the top winner or runner-up in 18 of the 33 categories. Other categories that Jamaica topped in this online survey were "Best Caribbean Beer" with its local Red Stripe Beer, "Best Golf Resort" for Half Moon in Montego Bay and "Best Boutique Hotel" for Caves in Negril. Susan Gilman, the editor of Caribbean Travel and Life Magazine, says that 24% of its readers have visited Jamaica in the past two years and another 24% plan to visit in the next year. Quick Links:
