A Caribbean Villa Rental as an Option to a HotelVacationing Like the Rich and Famous without the CostDeciding where to stay on vacation involves considerations such as location, amenities and price. An often overlooked option, however, is the rental of a private villa.
In the Caribbean, available rental villas abound. Unfortunately, many travelers mistakenly assume that villa rentals are the sole province of the “rich and famous.” In many popular vacation destinations, however, villas come in all shapes, sizes and price levels. Though many require a minimum stay (at least during the high winter season), the average nightly cost for a villa rental can be less than the average hotel room. Before opting for a vacation rental villa the differences between these private homes and traditional hotel rooms should be evaluated to ensure this choice suits a particular travelers wants and needs. Villas May Offer More Peaceful and Less Populated LocationsA villa can offer travelers privacy and an abundance of space. Many private villas are located in exclusive residential neighborhoods, offering incredible views and access to less frequented beaches and other attractions. Villa renters will typically have access to complete kitchens and may cook at least some meals themselves, providing flexibility and cost saving. Finally, it is common for villa rentals to provide daily maid service, and often a private pool is located on the property. Villa Rental May Not Appeal to Those Seeking Full Hotel AmenitiesSome travelers may prefer more “services.” Though villas are generally serviced on a regular basis with maid service and pool service, if applicable, travelers opting to rent villas rather than stay in hotel rooms will not typically have room service and will have to leave the villa for meals if choosing not to cook. Moreover, depending on the property management company handling the villa rental, it may sometimes be more difficult to arrange certain off-site activities, such as snorkeling, scuba diving, horse back riding and the like. Whereas hotel concierge desks are generally available to arrange for these outings, rental of a private villa may not provide such opportunities, requiring travelers to contact providers of these services directly. More and More Villa Companies Are Offering Services Nearly Equivalent to Those Found at HotelsThis omission in service is not being overlooked by villa rental management companies. More and more property management companies are offering, free with the booking of a villa rental, a concierge service that can assist in making activities arrangements and provide for the stocking of your villa with requested provisions (e.g., food, beverages). Some management companies are also partnering with local catering services that can be contacted by travelers seeking the delivery of prepared foods or even the services of an on-site chef to prepare a single meal or to prepare meals for the entire stay. Villa Rental Should Be Considered as a Viable Travel Alternative to Less Personal, Larger and More Crowded HotelsWhen planning a vacation, future travelers should take some time to look into this growing trend in travel accommodations. If peace and quiet, great views and a unique getaway are desired, a private villa may be just what is needed to plan the perfect, peaceful and memorable vacation. If you are considering renting a villa, a number of companies, including Villas of Distinction and Wimco, provide easy access to villa details and costs and can arrange reservations for a number of unique villas in varied locations around the Caribbean and elsewhere.
